K. CLEMENTE

Black Mountain Sport Horses is owned by show jumper Krystal Clemente.  Krystal began riding at the age of 2.  Krystal has been a competitive rider in western pleasure, dressage, equitation, hunters, eventing, endurance and worked as a back country outfitter in the Sierra Nevada.

She began her professional riding career while completing her bachelors degree from California State University Channel Islands where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.  While attending university Krystal met her mentor Lex Ruddiman, Chef D'Equip (ret. GBR) who took her on as a student.  Krystal would spend the next several years both stateside and in the UK riding, training and learning the in and outs of international Grand Prix, the serious business of horse husbandry and the finer points of bringing along every horse to its best potential.

Krystal has instructed riders from their first lessons to the national level Prix in show jumping and loves to teach.  She acquires, produces and develops serious sport horses for all levels of riders.  Finding the right horse for the right rider is always her first priority and remains a strong advocate for the longevity of the equine athlete over and above all else. Bringing up youngsters and rehabbing projects is also a large part of Krystal's work.

“When I bestride him, I soar, I am a hawk: he trots the air; the earth sings when he touches it; the basest horn of his hoof is more musical than the pipe of Hermes. ”
